Human Rights Adviser to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples at Indigenous Peoples Law & Policy Program

Claire Morclette is human rights adviser to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, in the Indigenous Peoples Law and Policy Program and Policy Program. She is based in Geneva, Switzerland, home of the UN Human Rights Council and UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

Claire has more than fifteen years of professional experience in international human rights. Most recently she was a human rights officer supporting the mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur from within the OHCHR. She previously also worked for the UN Special Rapporteur on Minorities and the UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of internally displaced persons. Through these positions, she has direct experience in the research and preparation of reports to the Human Rights Council and UN General Assembly, in the handling of individual complaints, dialogue with governments and civil society, and in the planning and carrying out of country visits. Earlier in her career, Claire worked as a researcher and campaigner for Amnesty International and as a human rights officer in the UN Peace-keeping Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She has an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex, United Kingdom and a Master’s degree in International Studies from the Grenoble-Alpes University, France.
